This week’s top tips and current promotions

For anyone dreaming of sunnier climes, this week's top tips take us first to Tuscany and then onto South West France.

Scroll down and you'll also find my highlights from Morrisons latest promotion, plus a taste of what's included in the M&S (largely pink) spring promotion.

2018 Cecchi Morellino di Scansano (£7.99 – instead of £9.99 until 2 June – at Waitrose):

A little more expensive than my usual top tip selections but the current discount on this lovely Tuscan Sangiovese blend makes it the perfect time to give it a try.

The lively sour cherry and cranberry fruit and bright acidity is nicely balanced with fine tannin and a roasted herb background.

Find it here on the Waitrose website.

2017 Finest Saint Mont (£6.50 at Tesco):

Made by South West France’s acclaimed Plaimont operation using largely local grapes, this fruity white brilliantly illustrates what the region has to offer.

Combining peach and tangerine fruit with lime acidity and impressive herbal texture, this wine is a feast for tired palates.

Find it on here on Tesco's website.

Thank you as ever Brian.
I am so envious of those who can access a Waitrose. We are badly served here in the north east of England. There are a couple north and south of me but miles and miles away. I don’t think they deliver under those circumstances otherwise I’d be in for a case of the Scansano!
Maybe my daughter-in-law in Northampton would collect a few bottles for me and hold on to them until next time we visit the kids down there.
Slainte ….

Great to hear from you Eddie – as ever. I have spoken to the company about their Waitrose Cellar delivery service and they have provided this link to a list of post codes where they currently have delivery problems. If you are not on it, perhaps a call to them might help solve the “sangiovese deficiency” you mention. I do hope so ….. Best …… Brian

I’m in for the Scansano as well, lovely wine at that price, with the weather picking up Sangiovese is the perfect red, I’d even chill it slightly (20 minutes or so in the fridge)
Eddie, I can’t find it atm, tried a couple of Waitrose stores and no sign of it, may have to try the onlne route, shame to miss out.

Thanks Dave both for your praise of the wine and for trying to help Eddie.
