With a huge network of stores and a well sourced range of wines, here are a couple of great value, classy wines from the most convenient of convenience stores.
Significant savings dominate the current Waitrose promotions but I have put my focus on two excellent examples – an attractive modern style Chardonnay at £5.99 and a classy Australian Cabernet reduced by £3.
The next Lidl promotion has just gone live containing wine from Bordeaux to Hungary and from Cahors to Alsace with several great value stops in between.
Amid the useful reductions in the current Tesco promotion, there is great promotion on a lovely rioja – miss it and you will kick yourself all year!
Almost overnight it seemed, picpoul de pinet was catapulted from semi-obscure regional speciality to what many considered “the next big thing”. Here are suggestions about why – and about who sells the good versions.
Actually, it’s £16.57 but we are unlikely to squabble over 7p. …… or fall out, I suspect, about the quality on offer here – with a £9.99 red to satisfy those seeking something a little further up the ladder.
While Rioja has multitudes of admirers, other parts of Spain also do great things with tempranillo, as an organic version and an unusual blend testify here – AND at a reduced price (for the next couple of weeks anyway).
I am hugely impressed by the value and expertise represented by the intense red featured here and the classy white that costs just a couple of pounds more.
An Easter wine bonanza starts in Tesco this morning. To find out whether – and how – you qualify for Rioja Reserva at £4.13 and New Zealand pinot at £5.25, click on the “Read More” or “Continue Reading” buttons.
