With all the current excitement about discounters and the new strategies being adopted by Tesco, it is easy to overlook what (literally in many cases) is almost on your doorstep. Here though is some excellent wine from surprisingly close to home.

Here is a group of wines on promotion that nicely live up to the retailer’s sales mantra about offering quality you would expect at prices you wouldn’t.

For a while now, Tesco has dominated the great value, own label wine scene but a new name is on that category’s 2016 International Wine Challenge winners list – see who they are, and what they offer!

Lidl promotions usually mean a wide ranging selection of good (and, sometimes, eye popping) value. It is hard to keep repeating that trick but this collection includes unusual fizz, a well priced sweetie and great prices on Chianti, Barbera and Navarra.

With aggregated discounts that offer floral rose and Italian graciano at £4.50 and award winning prosecco at £5.63, there is much to love about the time limited 25% off deals that start today at Sainsbury’s.

While the trio of sparklers will catch many eyes, you can also find here tasty Languedoc viognier, classy rosé and top Oz red to titillate taste buds and delight palates.

With traditional Chianti, rose influence Pinot noir and Portugal’s take on Albariño, there is something for most tastes in these new arrivals at a wine retailer with 200+ UK stores and a free delivery service for six or more bottles.
