A really tempting reduction is being offered on one of Majestic's top selling whites, but you need to be quick - this promotion ends on Monday
The Ned Sauvignon

I thought you guys might be interested in a short notice (and limited time) offer on an acclaimed white.

The Ned Sauvignon Blanc 2014 has dropped from £10.99 to £6.99 when you buy any 6 bottles at Majestic (although different arrangements apply in Scotlanduntil Monday 22 February.

From next Tuesday its price does go up but only to £8.99 (on the same terms) for the moment. Fuller details of the wine appear on the Majestic website.

Here’s a bit of background

This wine is made by Brent Marris who originally built the Wither Hills operation into something so successful that the multi nationals made an “impossible to refuse” offer.

Determined, however, to take sauvignon blanc to even higher levels, he acquired a 650 acre cattle farm near the Waihopai River to create his Marisco Vineyards in 2005.

Not only is the soil there ideal but the night time temperatures are 2-3˚C below the local average while the day time equivalents are 2-3˚C above it.

This gap (the diurnal temperature) plays an important role in the levels of sugar and of acid in grapes; so do the hi-tech facilities there which enable fruit to be moved from vine to tank within the hour.

Marisco wines have two main brands which start with The Ned – named after a large nearby peak – and that is the sauvignon to which this offer applies.

Try some and see what you think.

  1. Good Plan, Marc. If you want to mix up your six bottles without breaking the bank take a look at 2014 Alain Grignon Carignan Vieilles Vignes (£5.99) or, obviously, anything good on Majestic’s Tasting Bar. Either way enjoy the week-end – some Waitrose wines being featured here tomorrow by the way……. Brian
