This week’s Top Tips include a lovely, light Riesling, great value at £5, and a juicy blend of three classic Southern Rhone grapes. I also suggest wines to look out for in the supermarket promotions ending tomorrow, plus news of another set of offers at Majestic.
2019 Ventoux Rémy Ferbras (£6.59 – instead of £8.79 until 12 October – at Waitrose)
This is an attractive blend of that classic Southern Rhone grape trio (Grenache, Syrah and Mourvedre).
Its flavours include juicy blackcurrant and ripe plum components nicely rounded out by modest acidity, cinnamon spice on the finish and a comforting warmth almost like a baby Chateauneuf du Pape.
Note, stocks are low online but there should be bottles available in some physical stores
Tesco German Riesling Rheinhessen (£5 Tesco)
Lovely, light (11% alcohol), bright and subtle flavours are on display in this delightful, bargain priced introduction to modern Riesling.
Floral aromas and a crisp bite invigorate its tempting green apple and pineapple backbone while its off-dry flourish still retains enough acidity to keep everything zingy and fresh.

At Sainsbury’s
The current promotion at Sainsbury’s ends tomorrow. Not all offers are available online or at Sainsbury’s convenience stores but this Portuguese white is one to try if it’s available where you are:

At Morrisons
The offer at Morrisons also ends tomorrow. Look out for this bottle which made it onto our great value Malbec list back in April. Check your local store for availability, not all reductions are available online.

At Waitrose
The promotion at Waitrose is the third supermarket offer to end tomorrow. This vibrant red, which we recommended back in March, is among the offers.

At Majestic
Majestic has dropped the price of some of its top rated wines to under £10 (when you ‘Mix Six’). See the website for their selection of Top wines at £9.99.
