wet, cheap and drinkable (roughly in that order)?
Slowly, though, I began to realise that increases in price and in quality did not always march in step with one another.
Some wines really do punch significantly above their price point.
Finding out why began a journey that eventually led me to wine journalism, wine communication and judging in international wine competitions.
Nevertheless, years later, I still get boyish delight from finding an inexpensive wine that tastes like something at two or three times the price.
